My Data Science Journey

‘Facts from Figure’ was my departmental motto during in my undergraduate days while I studied Statistics, Statistics and I became close friends even though then I couldn’t yet wrap my head around the power of large volume of data or the very broad field of statistics.

I became very curious about data, working in various industries and sector such as Food and Confectionaries, Banking, Sport Betting, Energy and Utility, Forex and Stocks amongst the sectors I have worked in since I obtained my degree, everywhere I heard about data drew my attention almost as if it was my name.

My desire to have full control over data, being able to manipulate, investigate and dig deeper for valuable and actionable insights, converting it into a priceless piece of art drove me to lime light amongst my colleagues making me the ‘goto’ guy when anything data related was concerned.

I began using tools like SPSS and Microsoft Excel, realizing the limitations with the tools my curiosity helped me persevere through understanding the magic behind Microsoft Power BI, the visualizations i could now create was mind-blowing coupled with the advance functionality these new tool brought. I began to see data in a whole new light.

Now I wanted to be able to pull data from anywhere to analyze, be it from a web-source, database, API, Text, pictures and all, I knew the only was to achieve this was to revisit my Programming skills, having a basic knowledge of R programming language from my undergraduate days, I wanted a Programming language that was robust and could do much more than data analysis so I opted for Python programming language. The learning process was tedious, I felt the need to give up every time, I became restless and unsettled as I was determined to learn and improve on my Data skills, gradually I became more familiar with Python.

Today, I have completed multiple data science training, internships and projects. A couple of which are on my github page https://github.com/dhimar058, where I have used Python for Machine Learning and Deep Learning projects, Algorithms, Data Visualization, Data Modeling, Data Analysis, Natural Language Processing using various frameworks such as Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, Scipy, Seaborn, Sci-Kit Learn, Keras and Tensorflow.

I have learned nothing is impossible with the right attitude to learning and determination. Finally the sleepless nights has birthed greatness.
